The issue is- it gives pedophiles an outlet for their fantasies. The only outlet pedophiles need is therapy for non-offenders, and lead aspirin for the offenders.
Being a pedo is a mental condition, just like being gay. You can’t really change a sexual attraction that is innate.

I think the desire to protect kids, which most but not all humans have, wants to include more people in the category of pedophile so they can be sure not to miss any real ones.
