Local high school teacher Erin Kaye has let out a sigh of relief after noticing an assignment with 20 em dashes in it contained zero that were used correctly.

After failing 5 students who used AI to create poorly written and researched essays, Kaye was excited to see an assignment done to a passable level by a human.

“I was worried when I first saw those em dashes,” he said, “but when I realised they did the thing where they randomly throw in grammar hoping it looks good, I was so proud.”

“I mean obviously I need to teach them how em dashes work, but it’s nice to know that some of my students aren’t hopeless losers using ai for everything.”

Between reading it and submitting it apparently this got deleted, but I enjoyed it (particularly because it can be read as layered satire re: “em dashes = AI”) so I’m going to submit it anyway to assert dominance. Because of the deletion I have (for once) copied the entire text into the submission body.
