Centrist party aims to avoid the “toxic scenario” of far-right and ultranationalist candidates both making the presidential election runoff.

The leaders of Romania’s liberal USR party announced Wednesday that they want to support Bucharest Mayor Nicușor Dan in the country’s upcoming presidential election instead of the party’s own candidate, Elena Lasconi.
