With the takeover of half the board a lawsuit was filed. The other half of the board and the mayor are still looking at losing their seats while the town fights every single person associated with the deal.
At the core of the lawsuit challenging the rezoning of the data center site and the development agreement with CRG are allegations of various secret meetings and a lack of timely public information meant to stifle opposition.
Seems none of the town knew about what was happening or had a chance to voice their concerns which likely is a free speech problem. Hopefully the case exposes who is responsible for these backroom deals which hurt entire towns.
FOIA requests have already turned up messages between the local government and the state government/datacenter developers about how to hide information, how the Governor can “lend a hand” to pressure some reluctant local reps, and how they were waiting for things to blow over with the local community when a new olive garden opened.
Hopefully out of a cannon. Does this get the data center approval reversed.

Lawsuit has some bones.
