Are you considering the fact that modern commercial software is a house of cards and everything has to be updated constantly to support everything else (app APIs) being updated constantly?
Or just make your app so badly optimized that nothing other than the newest hardware can handle it!
I have a Toshiba TV with the FireTV built in (terrible idea and I hate it now). The entire TV runs off an AMAZON OS and the crappiest app on the entire suite of apps I have is AMAZON TV. (caps for emphasis that Amazon sucks at their own apps on their own OS)
