a quick bulletpoint list if people just wanted a glance:

    • quickshare compatible with airdrop(pixel, oppo, OP, vivo, xiaomi, honor)
    • better ios to android migration (pixel and samsung)
    • e2e RCS chat by default
    • partnership with meta for deeper social network integration on instagram for sharing and uploading images
    • digital wellbeing has a new feature to force a 10 second delay before you can decide to skip app time based locks
    • verified financial calls with a few banks (revolut, itau and nubank at first)
    • a live threat app detection model to detect malicious operations in apps realtime such as sms forwarding and using an assessibility overlay, with a new alert type system for suspicious app changes
    • ability to block accessibility perms from apps that don’t actually classify themselves as accessibility apps.
    • messages containing OTP codes are now unable to be read by other apps for 3 hours after recieving. (im hoping this ignores the foreground app and the keyboard… else this will kill any app that offers to get the code for you)
    • find my device now requires a second factor biometric auth(if one is setup) after marking a device as lost, in case the thief knew the code
    • less invalid attempts allowed for unlocking
    • IMEI is now available from the lockscreen by default
    • remote lock and theft detection lock are now defaulted on
    • session based location permission ability like how accessing camera works
    • status bar indicator when a non-foreground app is accessing the devices location
    • population detection when providing location so if you are in a low population it appoximates automatically
    • a contact picker so it doesn’t need full contact access to see a contact (this will be required to be used from October, 28th on)
    • the carrier can now change the 2g toggle setting
    • critical google owned software can now be verified against a public ledger to make sure the software is genuine
    • even more OS verification requirements for the device to show as a verified OS (android 17)
