Just south of the Spokane Street viaduct in SODO, there’s an empty lot where some industrial buildings were recently torn down.

A developer wants to put up a nine-story data center there. You can see it on drawings: It looks like a huge, Brutalist apartment building with no windows, and its own electrical substation next door.

At the City Council this week, members of the public expressed unanimous support for a one-year ban on projects like that.
