I have transcoding enabled in navidrome and tempus…it was all good for the past year, but today I got this warning that I consumed all my data plan. I listened to one hour of my music and just like that, bam, 17GB gone.

Not my lucky day I guess.

I use Tempus with Navidrome. Transcoding should be transcoding down to a format more appropriate for your bandwidth, so flac should be getting to your device as an mp4 or vorbis stream.

17GB seems high unless something else is going on, like your Tempus client trying to download all your tracks to your device.

Even maxed-out FLAC won’t use anything like 17GB in an hour; doesn’t seem like a transcoding issue.

Are you sure you didn’t accidentally hit an option to download your library locally to your phone?

Yeah, sure. Besides, the app only downloads when connected to the WiFi. My library is mostly FLACs and some of the songs are big…I’ve been looking at it and seems like a bug in the client that does not request the transcoded tracks once you disconnect the WiFi to the mobile data. That’s exactly what I did… Turned the VPN at home and just went to work. I usually turn the WiFi off first and then turn the VPN on.
