With anxiety over an AI doomsday reaching a fever pitch, some citizens of the world are no longer asking for regulations.

There will be an AI doomsday.

Is it going to be terminators marching down the streets? Almost definitely not.

But either these chatbots don’t work and crash out economy, or work and take everyone’s job…

Billionaires keep saying they’ll suddenly be happy with their bank accounts and would start supporting social programs when (really if) it works., but if that was true they’d be doing it now.

The only way to mitigate the damage of AI, is to not build it. Or at least wait to fix wealth inequality first. Because every single billionaire who has ever existed has cared more about personal wealth than human existence. If they didn’t they’d have stopped hoarding wealth long before becoming a billionaire and used it to help others.

We can’t count on a powerful class of people that requires having a complete lack of empathy to magically develop empathy if we give them even more money. No amount of money will make them develop empathy.
