The argument that “I like immigrants, but don’t let them change our culture” has been around for a long time. They’d say that about Italians, and now I can find a pizza place all over town. Seems like they can change it for the better to me.

And I mean government people on the payroll/ at parties dressed as a conference? Yeah you would have seen my edit. I acknowledge lobbying. That gold key service doesn’t mention the chamber of commerce, but yeah, they are definitely in it. Of course they would be. But they are not a part of the government itself… unless we can argue that tapeworms are a part of the pig, if the pig is lousy with them. Which is fair.

The chamber of commerce is not in any way part of the US government, but they take advantage of people who think they are. They are like a union but for rich people and corporations.

Edit: I guess you could argue they are part of the government as any other lobbying group, but that’s like saying that tapeworms are just a part of pork. Probably a position the US chamber of commerce would support if they thought about it.
