Sometimes I wonder what something like war or messing up a couple of servers could do to the globe.

What happens when services that are not deemed “essential” go down but everyone relies on them anyways? Im reminded of the cloudstrike/windows event.

Anyways I thought this was an interesting thought experiment the author introduces with Whatsapp.

Can you still see twitter posts without logging in? That was one of the biggest changes that sucked a number of years ago. I remember starting to see Nitter or something back then.

I hate how posts on the internet are literally just screenshots of peoples hot takes…without any context and you have to guess where it came from. I feel like its related somehow.

I thought it was interesting too. The specific examples he gives (twitter/wordpress/etc…) are what ive been feeling lately too.

Many BIG platforms are starting to not work well at the things they are designed for and some people (the tinkerers/makers/creators and many more) are looking around. Seeing whats available.

Theres a group also trying to make open source insulin. Cause if your going to die without insulin and your in a bad spot why not.

They have open hardware and processes for human health purposes. Never tested thier solutions though.

We have heat pumps and other such refrigeration methods to what he is doing (but in reverse). Hes just making a novel one using ice to be honest.
