This is Nvidia we’re talking about. That doesn’t matter. All that matters is number go up. And I hate to see it. I’ve got two Nvidia Shields. One of them has been running daily since 2015. And I still have no need to replace it at this point. But I really can’t recommend it to anyone else pick one up. In fact, right now I’m looking at setting up a Linux TV PC do many of the same things. Since I can literally pick up $100 E-Waste business PC that would be more capable. The only issue would be a few specific apps. Which with the right bits and pieces may be achievable through waydroid or similar

Bafflingly (or not because it’s a DRM created issue) the Nvidia Shield is still the most “open” way to watch 4k netflix for anyone that cares about that. I think the highest resolution you can get on Linux or uncertified android devices is 1080p and even that requires jumping through some hoops unless something has changed recently.

Of course for those inclined, it’s easily solved by cancelling netflix, acquiring your own copies of media (legitimately or not) and running a media server

Wide Vine is a breeze to install on Arch. I haven’t tried under fedora. But I know that it’s been significantly more difficult under other distributions. But yes 1080p Max I believe. Not that generally any of my subscriptions cover 4K shit I pirate all that.
